The Cost of Family: Buying Back (Some Of) My Past
A few weekends ago, I found myself standing in line at an estate sale. Even though I’m normally excited to attend such outings, this one hit differently because I was familiar with the house and its contents - it had once belonged to my mom’s sister. Perhaps it would have been more succinct to call it my aunt’s estate sale , but I could never use that terminology because the woman in whose house I was standing had never been an aunt to me.
